One of a series of sculptures of characters from traditional nursery rhyme, this piece is based on Mother Hubbards dog as she finds him on her return home (besides dancing, laughing and standing on his head). The artist: Mother Hubbard and Her Dog must be one of my favourite rhymes. The character of the dog reminds me particularly of my youngest child, who is similarly impulsive and quick-witted, while Mother Hubbard reflects the mad juggling act that I find myself performing as a mother.
